I have zero doubt you’re busy - because, same. So why should you and your team take time away from other priorities to reflect on where you’ve been?

Because by the end of this workshop, your team will be able to confidently answer the following:

What are three big wins we’ve had this year?

If your CEO asked you what your teams three biggest wins were this year, would you have an answer? Upon completing this workshop, you definitely will!

It can be easy to forget just how much you HAVE achieved, when immediately upon completion you’re off to the races on your next milestone or goal. This is your chance to stop and celebrate all you’ve achieved together over the last 12-months!

Taking time to pause, reflect, and acknowledge how far you’ve come is not only incredibly important to team morale, it’s a great way to understand and unpack the replicable behaviors, processes, and skills that drove your successes.

What are three big lessons we learned this year?

“If you’re not failing, you’re not growing,” is a euphemism that’s easier proclaimed than lived - especially when the outcomes of your projects often have such a direct impact on individual employees. That said, failure is inevitable and ripe with lessons, when we take the time to reflect.

It’s important to note that the aim here is not to cast blame on any teamwide or individual shortcoming, but rather a chance to uncover and acknowledge any lessons learned that will benefit your whole team moving into the new year.

Approaching this topic in a controlled, safe space is a fantastic way to build more psychological safety amongst the entire team. And no one’s ever been mad about accomplishing that.

What are three big things that stifled our ability to succeed this year?

This is your chance to discuss what resources, support structures, clarity, collaboration, tools, etc. your team believes would have improved their work this year. Everyone may interpret this question a little differently, and that’s a good thing!

Some folks may outline a feeling they didn’t experience (“I needed to feel more psychologically safe raising concerns”) while others may cite specific tools (“I asked for a reporting software that would speed up my work, and never had it approved”). What’s important is creating space for the conversation and really listening. And don’t worry, we’ve provided guidance on navigating back to a constructive, positive place if the conversation veers into rant territory.

Together, you’ll determine which three of those needs would have had the greatest positive impact teamwide. What better information to have as you go into planning for the new year?
